Android TV - SmartStream


Here you can find SmartStream setup information for your chosen device and also which services you can access whilst using SmartStream.

You can use the Table of Contents on the right hand side of this window to navigate between the different sections.

Disclaimer: We do not provide support for Android TV devices, this guide is provided 'as is', please do not raise support requests relating to such devices.

Step 1
Choose the closest SmartStream DNS server to your current location using the below list, you will need this later.




Step 2
Retrieve your VPN username and password, if you are a new member this is contained in the StreamVia Account Information email you received after ordering.




Step 3
Go the Settings

Under Network select either Wi-Fi or Ethernet and make sure it is enabled, then write down the shown IP Address you will need this later.

We strongly recommend using Ethernet/cabled connections, in our experience the wifi chipset in the devices we tested is not ideal for streaming.

Select Other then More Settings

If configuring as recommended using Ethernet/cabled connections, click Ethernet

Click Ethernet configuration

Change Connect Type to Static IP

Configure as follows:

  • IP The IP address you wrote down in Step 4
  • Netmask 255.255.255.0
  • DNS SmartStream DNS server address chosen in Step 1
  • Gateway This will depend on your router. If you IP is 192.168.0.2 then your gateway will either be 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.0.254. If your IP is 192.168.2.4, then your gateway will either be 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.2.254. The 'dot 1' is the most common, i.e 192.168.0.1. If there is no internet access after completing this guide, then please try the other option.




Step 10
Click Save


Step 11
Use the below link to sign in to SmartStream using your VPN username and password, this will activate SmartStream for your current broadband IP address. It is recommended you do this from a computer.

Should your broadband connection IP address change (if your router restarts or your ISP resets your connection) you will need to repeat this step of signing in, to update our systems.




Step 12
Try the blocked content on your Android TV
