Amazon Fire TV - SmartStream

Here you can find SmartStream setup information for your chosen device and also which services you can access whilst using SmartStream.

You can use the Table of Contents on the right hand side of this window to navigate between the different sections.

N.B. Support for Amazon Fire TV is only available with our 'Special' SmartStream DNS server, it also ONLY supports UK sites and REQUIRES an Amazon UK account.

Please follow the correct guide depending on how your box is connected to your router, i.e Cabled vs Wireless.

Install Guide

IPv6?
If you have IPv6 on your broadband, you may need to disable this on your router to be able to use SmartStream on this device

Cabled/Ethernet Guide

Step 1
Use the 'Special DNS Server' from the below list, only the Special DNS servers have Amazon Instant UK/FireTV support. You will need this later.

Step 2
Retrieve your VPN username and password, if you are a new member this is contained in the StreamVia Account Information email you received after ordering.

Step 3
Go the Settings then select System

Step 4
Under System select Network then Configure Network

Step 5
Leave all settings as their default, apart from DNS 1 and DNS 2 - please enter the SmartStream DNS server(s) retrieved in Step 1.

Step 6
Unplug the Fire TV power cord

Step 7
Use the below link to sign in to SmartStream using your VPN username and password, this will activate SmartStream for your current broadband IP address. It is recommended you do this from a computer.

Should your broadband connection IP address change (if your router restarts or your ISP resets your connection) you will need to repeat this step of signing in, to update our systems.

Step 8
Plug the Fire TV back in

Wireless Guide

Step 1
Use the 'Special DNS Server' from the below list, only the Special DNS servers have Amazon Instant UK/FireTV support. You will need this later.

Step 2
Retrieve your VPN username and password, if you are a new member this is contained in the StreamVia Account Information email you received after ordering.

Step 3
Go the Settings then select System and finally Network.

If System does not exist on your device, go straight into Network from the Settings menu.

Step 4
Select your Wi-Fi network and forget Wi-Fi network by pressing the button with 3 lines on it on the remote, then press the Select button.

Step 5
Select your Wi-Fi network

Step 6
Enter your Wi-Fi password, but do not press Connect, instead click on Advanced

Step 7
Enter the first three groups of numbers exactly the same as the IP address of your router. As an example, if your router IP is 192.168.1.1, then use the IP address 192.168.1.77 or something to that nature. The important part is to change the last digit so you get an IP from the same IP range as the router, this also needs to be unique on your network i.e not the same as other computers, tablets, etc.

Step 8
For the Default gateway enter the IP of your router

Step 9
Input 24 for the Network Prefix Length and Click Next

Step 10
Please enter the SmartStream DNS server(s) retrieved in Step 1 for DNS 1

Step 11
Please enter the SmartStream DNS server(s) retrieved in Step 1 for DNS 2

Step 12
Press Save or Connect and let the device connect to your network

Step 13
Unplug the Fire TV, from your TV and any additional USB/power cables, so it is completely disconnected

Step 14
Use the below link to sign in to SmartStream using your VPN username and password, this will activate SmartStream for your current broadband IP address. It is recommended you do this from a computer.

Should your broadband connection IP address change (if your router restarts or your ISP resets your connection) you will need to repeat this step of signing in, to update our systems.

Step 15
Plug the Fire TV back in to your TV and any power cables, so that it starts up.

Fixing Problems

Amazon Account

IMPORTANT: You MUST be using a www.amazon.co.uk account (NOT .de, .jp, .fr, .com, etc), if needed use another email address and register a separate account on www.amazon.co.uk

Step 1
Go to https://www.amazon.co.uk/mycd

Step 2
Sign in with your UK account if prompted

Step 3
Using the below link/screenshot as a guide (of our Amazon account), click 'Settings' then make sure you have a UK card registered for 'Digital Payment Settings' and that 'Country Settings' are also set to 'UK', UK address etc. As shown in the below screenshot from our account.

Step 4
On the Fire stick itself, open Settings from the Fire TV menu.

Step 5
Go to My Account.

Step 6
Tap on Deregister

Once the device has deregistered, you will get 2 options - create a new account, or sign in/register with an existing account. Sign in/register with your existing Amazon UK account. Providing you only deregister and then re-register the IP/DNS configuration will *not* be reset on the device, only if you do a full/factory reset.
