App Updated Cannot Connect

The OpenVPN Connect App on iOS has been updated, it features a new user interface. After the update, some users have a problem connecting to the VPN.

If you have upgraded the App and cannot connect it has likely lost some of the settings, there are 2 'Fix' options below.

FIX OPTION 1 - Simplest

Step 1
Delete the OpenVPN App from your device, i.e press/hold on the App icon until it wiggles/bounces, tap the 'x' that appears in the top left-hand corner of the icon.

Step 2
Install OpenVPN and the configuration files again, by following the setup guide below:

FIX OPTION 2 - Try to correct the missing configuration

Step 1
Select 'OVPN Profile' from the main screen

Step 2
You should now see your previous VPN options, continue with Step 3 below.

If you instead see an 'Import Profile' screen, the configuration files have been lost - please Click Here and follow Step 3 onwards of the Setup Guide to install them again

Step 3
The VPN username/password seems to get lost during the upgrade, you will need to re-enter these to be able to connect.

Tap the '>' towards the right-hand of the screen, next to the VPN option you want to connect.

If you do not see a '>' icon, please Click Here and follow Step 3 onwards of the Setup Guide to install them again

Step 5
Make sure 'Username' is your VPN username, usually your full email address

Step 6
Make sure 'Password' is your VPN password.

Step 7
Tap 'Save' top right

Step 8
Try to connect now. If it fails, most likely the password in Step 6 is wrong.
