DD-WRT - SmartStream

Here you can find SmartStream setup information for your chosen device and also which services you can access whilst using SmartStream.

You can use the Table of Contents on the right hand side of this window to navigate between the different sections.

Install Guide

Step 1
Choose the closest SmartStream DNS server to your current location using the below list, you will need this later.

Step 2
Retrieve your VPN username and password, if you are a new member this is contained in the StreamVia Account Information email you received after ordering.

Step 3
Sign into the administration screen of the router, by putting the IP address into a web browser, the default is usually http://192.168.1.1

Step 4
Navigate to the SetupBasic Setup

Step 5
Scroll down until you see the Static DNS options, these are the options you need to change. Enter the IP addresses of the SmartStream DNS servers you chose in Step 1. Do not change any other settings.

Only the SmartStream DNS servers should be listed, delete any others

Step 6
You can configure up to 3 SmartStream DNS servers on DD-WRT, however we recommend that you DO NOT mix areas - i.e dont put in UK and USA DNS servers just to fill the gaps, all supported SmartStream sites will work no matter which SmartStream DNS servers you use. You should generally use the closest SmartStream DNS server. Any entries that you dont want to fill in, enter '0.0.0.0'

Step 7
Scroll down click Save, then Apply Settings

Step 8
If the router does not automatically reboot, unplug the power, wait 5 seconds and then power it back up again

Step 9
After the router has rebooted, restart any devices connected to the router - computers, tablets, etc

Step 10
Use the below link to sign in to SmartStream using your VPN username and password, this will activate SmartStream for your current broadband IP address. It is recommended you do this from a computer.

Should your broadband connection IP address change (if your router restarts or your ISP resets your connection) you will need to repeat this step of signing in, to update our systems.
