Android - SmartStream


Here you can find SmartStream setup information for your chosen device and also which services you can access whilst using SmartStream.

You can use the Table of Contents on the right hand side of this window to navigate between the different sections.


Install Guide


Step 1
Choose the closest SmartStream DNS server to your current location using the below list, you will need this later.




Step 2
Retrieve your VPN username and password, if you are a new member this is contained in the StreamVia Account Information email you received after ordering.




Step 3
Go to Settings then About, About Tablet or About Phone, etc


Step 4
Tap Status


Step 5
Under IP Address write down this number, make sure the dots stay in the same place. It will likely be something like 192.168.x.x.


Step 6
Go back to Settings


Step 7
Tap WiFi, tap on the word WiFi, not ON/OFF


Step 8
Tap and hold preferred (or active/connected) wireless network until dialog pops up


Step 9
Select Modify Network


Step 10
Select Show advanced options check box at the bottom

Change IP settings to Static


Step 12
Configure the IP address exactly as you wrote down in Step 5.

The Gateway is the same as your broadband router IP address, sometimes they have a sticker on with this information.

If your IP address is 192.168.1.123, the Gateway will likely be 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254, if your IP address is 192.168.2.123, the Gateway will likely be 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.2.254.

Network Prefix Length will be 24 in most cases.


Step 13
Set DNS 1 and DNS 2 to the SmartStream DNS server(s) you chose in Step 1.


Only the SmartStream DNS servers should be listed, delete any others




Step 14
Tap Save


Step 15
Use the below link to sign in to SmartStream using your VPN username and password, this will activate SmartStream for your current broadband IP address.

Should your broadband connection IP address change (if your router restarts or your ISP resets your connection) you will need to repeat this step of signing in, to update our systems.




Step 16
Power off/on your device, a full restart not just a suspend/resume.




Removal Guide


Step 1
Go to Settings


Step 2
Tap WiFi, tap on the word WiFi, not ON/OFF


Step 3
Tap and hold preferred (or active) wireless network until dialog pops up


Step 4
Select Modify Network


Step 5
Select Show advanced options check box at the bottom


Step 8
Change IP settings to DHCP


Step 9
Tap Save


Step 10
Power off/on your device, a full restart not just a suspend/resume.
