This is an old revision of the document!
Here you can find SmartStream setup information for your chosen device and also which services you can access whilst using SmartStream.
You can use the Table of Contents on the right hand side of this window to navigate between the different sections.
N.B. Support for Amazon Fire TV is only available with our 'Special' SmartStream DNS server, it also ONLY supports UK sites and REQUIRES an Amazon UK account.
Please follow the correct guide depending on how your box is connected to your router, i.e Cabled vs Wireless.
IPv6?
If you have IPv6 on your broadband, you may need to disable this on your router to be able to use SmartStream on this device
Step 1
Use the 'Special DNS Server' from the below list, only the Special DNS servers have Amazon Instant UK/FireTV support. You will need this later.
Step 2
Retrieve your VPN username and password, if you are a new member this is contained in the StreamVia Account Information email you received after ordering.
Step 3
If your device is not already connected to your network, please connect it now. Make sure you have internet access, albeit geo-blocked internet access.
Step 4
Go the Settings then select Device, then About and finally Network
Step 5
Note down the IP Address, Gateway and the Subnet Mask you will need these details later. The easiest way is to take a photo of the screen, with a phone or tablet, this photo will also help StreamVia troubleshoot any problems with you if required.
Step 6
Under Settings select Network then Configure Network
Step 7
Configure the Gateway you noted down in Step 5
Step 8
If your Subnet Mask was 255.255.255.0, configure 24* for the Network Prefix Length. If it was something else, please email us the photo from Step 5.
Step 9
Configure the Gateway you noted down in Step 5
Step 10
For DNS 1 and DNS 2 please enter the SmartStream DNS server(s) retrieved in Step 1.
Step 11
After entering DNS 2, click the 'Connect' button and the various settings will then be saved.
Step 12
Unplug the Fire TV power cord
Step 13
Use the below link to sign in to SmartStream using your VPN username and password, this will activate SmartStream for your current broadband IP address. It is recommended you do this from a computer.
Should your broadband connection IP address change (if your router restarts or your ISP resets your connection) you will need to repeat this step of signing in, to update our systems.

As an example, if your router IP is 192.168.1.1, then use the IP address 192.168.1.77 or something to that nature. The important part is to change the last digit so you get an IP from the same IP range as the router, this also needs to be unique on your network i.e not the same as other computers, tablets, etc.
Step 8
For the Default gateway enter the IP of your router
Step 9
Input 24 for the Network Prefix Length and Click Next

==== Amazon Account ====
IMPORTANT: You MUST be using a www.amazon.co.uk account (NOT .de, .jp, .fr, .com, etc), if needed use another email address and register a separate account on www.amazon.co.uk
Step 1
Go to https://www.amazon.co.uk/mycd
Step 2
Sign in with your UK account if prompted
Step 3
Using the below link/screenshot as a guide (of our Amazon account), click 'Settings' then make sure you have a UK card registered for 'Digital Payment Settings' and that 'Country Settings' are also set to 'UK', UK address etc. As shown in the below screenshot from our account.
Step 4
On the Fire stick itself, open Settings from the Fire TV menu.
Step 5
Go to My Account.
Step 6**
Tap on Deregister
Once the device has deregistered, you will get 2 options - create a new account, or sign in/register with an existing account. Sign in/register with your existing Amazon UK account. Providing you only deregister and then re-register the IP/DNS configuration will *not* be reset on the device, only if you do a full/factory reset.
