Generic Device - OpenVPN

Here you can find setup information for your chosen VPN and also how to fix any problems you might encounter.

You can use the Table of Contents on the right hand side of this window to navigate between the different sections.

You must have a Residential VPN account to use this service.

Install Guide

Step 1
Retrieve your VPN username, VPN password and OpenVPN Configuration Files from the 'My Services' section of the Client Area:

Please note, the below is a screenshot of the Client Area. Use the link above, to access the Client Area.

Step 2
Import the OpenVPN configuration file to your device - please note, our Residential VPN uses settings that are only present on OpenVPN 2.4 (tls-crypt) or higher.

So if you're using a router, it MUST include OpenVPN 2.4 (not 2.3, or earlier) or higher. You may need to upgrade your router firmware if it uses an earlier version of OpenVPN.

Which options should I use?!

  • Port 1, 2, 3 are labelled 'Performance', these are typically the fastest
  • Port 4, 5, 6 are labelled 'Fallback', these may be required from some restricted locations
  • We recommend you experiment, to see which works best for you.

Contact our Support team with details of the device you're using, if you're not sure.
